Introduction
As I held a newborn baby not long ago, I had this thought. We arrive on Earth and become immersed in the human experience. We adopt a human identity, complete with a human mind, then we begin losing sight of our true nature – The Presence, the core essence of who we are—as we get sucked into the roles and situations that will soon come our way.
Welcome to Presence and Peace
Hello, this is David Lowry. Welcome to Presence and Peace.
The Question of Incarnation
Today we look at the question of why an amazing and powerful being such as The Presence chooses to incarnate in our bodies.
This “forgetting” of our true nature is a natural part of the process. It allows us to fully engage in the roles we play as individuals. Life on Earth is a vibrant tapestry of joys and sorrows, triumphs and setbacks. We experience a wide range of emotions and situations, creating rich experiences and complex narratives for our lives.
At some point, often after experiencing both the highs and lows, a profound question arises: “Is this all there is?” We’ve enjoyed many wonderful moments, but we’ve also endured significant pain. We begin to wonder about the deeper meaning of our existence. “Why am I here? What is the purpose of all this?”
The Presence Within
These existential questions are not merely random thoughts; they are gentle nudges from The Presence within, reminders of our true identity and our vast potential.
We are so much more than the characters we play in this earthly drama. Consider your own life as an example. While you may cherish the role and the work you do, your essence, The Presence is far greater and more significant than the conscious physical being you identify as you. Similarly, while Earth is a beautiful and wondrous planet, The Presence is far more powerful and wonderful.
This raises a crucial question: why would such a powerful Presence choose to inhabit a seemingly insignificant human form and limit its vast knowledge and awareness to something like a human brain? The answer lies in the realm of experience.
While The Presence possesses vast knowledge far beyond the capacity of the human mind to comprehend, it does not possess the experiences of living in the physical world. Knowledge is not experience.
For instance, The Presence can understand the concept of depression intellectually, but it cannot truly know depression until it is embodied as a human and experiences it firsthand. Experiences, particularly those tied to emotions and physical sensations, are what The Presence seeks through embodiment. Even so, this pursuit of experience doesn’t necessitate suffering.
Union of Wisdom and Awareness
The key lies in the union of the wisdom of The Presence with the consciousness of the human form. When The Presence within awakens the human consciousness, the experiences become richer, deeper, and more meaningful. Then, The Presence can not only have the experiences it has chosen but also influence and improve the circumstances of this earthly “simulation.” It can bring its wisdom to bear on the challenges of human existence, leading to greater understanding, compassion, and, ultimately, a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
This integration is the potential we all carry within us. It’s the journey of remembering who we truly are and bringing that awareness to the forefront of our human experience.
Conclusion
